When your baby is newborn and especially if you’re breastfeeding, make sure you’re eating a well-balanced diet. All our recipes have been approved by the British Nutrition Foundation so are great for new mums. If you're bottle feeding it’s still important that you look after yourself and eat well to give you all the energy you’ll need to care for your newborn!

Apple and custard tarts

These tarts are lovely as a special treat. Spread a little custard onto the puff pastry and top with apples and you have quick and easy apple and custard tarts.

Apricot and sultana tray bake

    1 hour 15 minutes

This is an easy tray bake with lots of dried apricots, sultanas and orange juice. The fruit and juice give the cake a nice moist texture. This is lovely on its own as a snack or for afternoon tea. Alternatively, serve warm for pudding with custard or fromage frais.

Asparagus, pine nut and Parmesan tart

Lovely with a crisp green salad, this simple tart is delicious warm or cold. You could just as easily use young leaf spinach and peas instead

Assorted mini tartlets

  • Preparation time:
    15 minutes
  • Cooking time:
    20-25 minutes

These are ideal for parties as you can vary the filling to suit your guests. They work well using tuna instead of the salmon. Or leave out the salmon and add chopped, sautéed pepperswith the spring onions, adding a little goats’ cheese and finely chopped herbs before baking.

Avocado, mango and prawns with a delicious dressing

Serve fingers of avocado and mango to the children while the grown-ups have the avocado and mango with the prawns and a fantastic dressing
